Black Lake

 Rudoka Mountain –  Black Lake  2.164 m

“A hidden landscape”

Black Lake - 2.164 m

Climbing over Black Lake, you’ll find the landscape to be remarkable. A dark lake surrounded by steep dark rocks, which display the wilderness of the mountain.

A region of silicate rocks and stony localities with specific vegetation and several small herds of chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra balcanica).

On Lake Black, you can also see the local endemic plant of the Šar Mountains – Doerfler’s five-leaf clover (Potentilla doerfleri).

On Rudok, according to a German botanist can also find subarctic and alpine azalea (Loiseleuria procumbens), which, unfortunately, no Macedonian botanist has noticed since 1954.
